Bursledon Regatta Revisted
Finally, a break in the miserable weather and so we headed off to Bursledon Regatta. I haven’t been for about 20 years, and that was after a big gap, but things haven’t changed much since I was a kid living in the village there. I really wanted my kids to experience the water carnival as it was always one of the highlights of my childhood. This year the theme was “A Passage To India”, and the water procession of floats was an amusing spectacle as ever. However, for me it’s all the rowing races that I enjoy as they have enough fun ones to prevent things from getting too competitive. I ended up getting soaked through after having been press ganged into the paint float race (see below), where we seemed to end up with more people in the paint float the further we went round the course. Shame we couldn’t stay for the fireworks and candle light procession. Maybe next year if I can persuade Thorsten to sell me theĀ faltboot.
