Hi

Did you get any further with the idea of a pop up campsite?

Sounds like a most interesting concept and I'd be interested in helping organise one down this way (Hampshire/Dorset) if the opportunity ever arose.

Hi.

sorry if I'm being a bit dim....I've just stumbled across you and love the idea of the camping. I've quickly read the planning permission page, and now this one.( bogs.) The camps I like to go to all have natural loos. Either long drop, or elevated "log bogs" If you're hoping to get some farmers or land owners to allow a temporary site to earn a few more pennies, is there some reason why you dont include mentions of natural toilets ? A day or two of labour in getting the toilet place organised, or dug, and off we jolly well.!
Without even thinking I could possibly come up with 2 or 3 sites...( near Suffolk coast.... one already has the loos.
Later I'll read the other pages, but wanted to send this first, before I return to my "to do" list.

Charlie ... sounds fab, but if I was you I'd buy a bell tent or two and offer a glamping type campsite. Check out Get On My Land at Bell Tent UK. There's some up front investment but you'll make more money from you land.

Best

Dear

I have some land in Dorset that I might be interested in turning in to a basic pop up campsite for under 48 days a year. Pertinently starting in the summer 2012. I live 1 mile away from Milton Abbey school and Milton Abbas village, with many footpath's and bridal way's. Milton Abbey is open to the public with a golf course and Abbey. Milton Abbas is a very pretty village which you can see on the internet. Milton Abbas is also only 15-20 minutes from the sea. Do you have any information you could give me or could please help? I have a job which wont allow me to run or organise this myself.

Very interesting! I've just moved from Brighton to Totnes and have a Bell Tent. Just got a woodburning stove for it as well. I know East Prawle and have often considered a long weekend there. I'm currenlt in India but back in a month and will see about a bit of autumnal camping there after reading this...

Think there are dunes on other side of the river at Littlehampton, might be worth a day trip visit and who knows there maybe a campsite nearby. Witterings are great spot but parking is expensive at beach, which wouldn't be so bad if they let you go and come back because food at cafe is really poor.

West Wittering beach, parking and cafe etc is privately owned, not National Trust - so it's no good asking them to sort the horrible cafe out. There is a National Trust part to it but it's the end of the headland.

[...] I’m a big fan of Stoneywish Nature Reserve and think it could become the best camp site for kids in UK. Whether Michael the owner has the inclination to make the changes and investment required is a different matter. Right now it’s still primarily a nature reserve, which is usually empty, with a very basic campsite; and one that was only set-up two years ago after Matt from my-Kea running the local Steiner School Summer Camp there (see Really Cool Camping at Stoneywish).
